ClothPaperScissors's gone Digital!

ClothPaperScissors is one of my favorite art/craft magazines for inspiration and ideas, not to mention just to enjoy turning the pages and seeing what wierd, wacky and wonderful art people come up with. Even when the occasional issue doesn't rock my boat, I am consistently amazed by the variety of expression in it. So yesterday while perusing the latest edition Jan/Feb 09 I noticed that they were now offering online subscriptions. Hmmmm.....

I checked it out this morning and the feel is similar to reading a book on a Kindle, but on your computer instead. The pages turn like real pages, you can zoom in and out, print with the touch of a button, and link immediately to any website listed in either articles or ads with a click. Pretty cool. I was sold. Though I've read the magazine for years and have a library of back issues, I've always balked (for no good reason) at buying a subscription, but today, lured by the ease - and lower price - I succumbed and subscribed.

In other news, I've been working on a baby dress for the new grand-niece and it's coming along well. OK, pretty well. There may be a little glitch, but we will ignore that for the moment and say that it is lovely. It's in the pattern Sunflower .

Yesterday I did some shopping downtown and took some time to wander around the Rail Yard with my new(ish) camera. Just south of the train station I found a new little shop called One of One. It is housed in a little cottage along the tracks and is run by two sisters who sew beautifully. They make baby blankets in soft cotton and flannel, children's clothing, and much more, plus, their prices are reasonable and they take custom orders! One of the sisters haunts flea markets and tag sales and buys and restores vintage baby gowns and bonnets. Some are simple white cotton, others embellished with hand embroidery and tatting. Other items in the shop include locally crafted jewelry, hard to find or unique household items, tote bags, gift cards, and antiques. Lots of fun to visit and of course I bought a little blanket in case my knitting doesn't work out. The blanket is flannel in a ladybug print and is very sweet and soft.

So, I'm off to check out the new digital edition of ClothPaperScissors then out for a walk with the dogs and a friend.

Good 'un to ya!
