Oh boy! Just walked away from my desk with my foot caught in the power cord of my laptop. It could have been curtains! My little Mac fell face down on the hard tile floor and my heart stopped for a moment. I paused, took a deep breath, and turned.
Picked it up.
Its little face glowed, bright as ever.
Great sigh of relief. Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
So my day has been one of much coming and going. Lots of errands, too much money spent, but this afternoon I settled down and the spinning wheel and I became as one. I've spun two bobbins full while watching old, but never before seen by me, movies (yes, I admit it, I finally watched Napoleon Dynamite - and it cracked me up even though I was mostly listening, not watching). I have a problem now though. I have only three bobbins and a heck of a lot of wool to spin. There is one store in town that has one (ONE) bobbin and they are closed tomorrow. I will have to get creative as I am letting the yarn rest on the bobbin tonight while I also rest, but I want to ply it tomorrow.
I wonder if there are any empty toilet paper rolls (clean, of course) in the trash? I could wind it onto that, necessity being the mother of invention.
And I have some other stinky sheep-smelling yarn that I need to de-smellify. I have already washed it twice and it's been out in the sun all day to air, but it still reeks. If you couldn't smell it, you'd love it. Any ideas?
I dreamed of spinning last night. It is a great improvement over dreaming of work which is what I usually dream about. This is a good thing. I'm infatuated with fiber again.
On the horizon: there are two paintings in the studio (aka: laundry room) that are awaiting further inspiration. I have purchased quilting thread to finish a baby blanket for a new baby in the family. I hope that I will move on this faster than the wedding afghan I was going to give as a wedding gift to the parents - it is still half finished in a basket and they are going on their second anniversary. And I have photo negatives to sort through for future reprints and a few ideas for new photo adventures should I ever have time enough.
I'm one lucky woman.
