Oh, I've been here and there, but mostly in the garden. As spring moves into early summer much of my free time is spent outside watching the plants grow, spreading mulch, starting new seeds, digging here and there, moving and transplanting, fertilizing and such. It has been all consuming and pretty rewarding, too, to see my broccoli turn from tiny leaves to big ones to flower head, to find the first blossom on the pea plant, and watch the apples, pears, and peaches grow daily. Even the grapevine seems to have recovered from the vicious pruning I gave it two years ago and is full of teeny little bunches of grapes. So, yeah, I'm happy and pretty busy.
It's not been ALL garden though. I've also been making inroads on my yarn stash, trying to finish projects so that I can justify my trip to the Estes Park Wool Market in June. I went last year with my mom and friend Jody and while mom is not here this summer, Jody and I will go again and do some hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park while there.
I'm currently working on a re-do of a sweater I made last fall. It was too short and the yarn pilled something awful, but I love the pattern and am using yarn that I bought from The Natural Twist LLC in Albuquerque at their booth in the Taos Wool Festival last year. It's coming along well. The pattern is the Placed Cable Aran from Fall 2007 Interweave Knits. Mine new one is in a dark/royal blue wool. It's gonna be very nice.
Also finished Shawl That Jazz - a mountain of garter stitch that carried me through several movies on dvd, something I can't enjoy with most patterns because of all the cursing I interrupt myself with when I find I've gone off pattern some three rows back. This one was easy and fun to do, though I want to do it again in a linen blend and make it longer - as usual the pattern was made for someone about four inches shorter than I am and I want the full butt coverage that the photo shows. Mine comes to just below my waist but it is pretty and it's pink and I love it.
Today I am spinning a merino, silk, and bamboo fiber batt from ilash designs on etsy. It's soft and easy to spin. Here's a pic, pre-spinning:
