Wool in Summer

Recently back from the Estes Park Wool Market. Mid June is a great time to be in Colorado - clear skies (in the morning at least), green valleys ringed by snow capped mountains, wildflowers in the meadows, cold water rivers. My second year at the wool festival only made me feel certain that I have to return next year. As I've gotten more into spinning and recently have taken up weaving on a very small scale, my search for goodies went in a different direction this year... less into yarn and more into various fibers.

The appeal of this wool market for fiber shoppers is, I think, that it's so intimate, being indoors. It's crowded, it's full, it's a lot of fun. For the most part, the vendors are great fun to talk to and share a wealth of helpful information. Loved seeing the vicuna-alpacas in the animal tent. This fleece is so incredibly soft, it's not to be believed.

This year aside from some beautiful yarn, I bought merino/silk roving, yak, alpaca, kid mohair, angora, and silk fibers for spinning and some truly gorgeous hand dyed roving from .... aiiiiieeeeee!.....someone whose card I can't find right now but will insert here when I do . Here's a pic of the initial efforts at spinning it.

Much else to tell, but not now.
