Finished spinning the silk and then went on to this beautiful ivory colored merino wool from windrose.etsy.com

It spun up like a dream and I then plied it with the silk. It turned out to be a far better yarn in the end than I'd hoped. I've never plied yarn before - that's spinning two yarns together to make a stronger single yarn) - but it was so fast and easy! Clearly I have room for improvement, but for now, I'm happy to show you the end result.
*** Disclaimer...you will have to accept my opinion of my spinning for now as it's too dark in this house for me to take a good picture of said fiber. When I have time to take a daylight photo I will insert it here ***
I was so thrilled with this accomplishment, that I went right out and ordered more wool to spin. Here's what should be arriving any day now....

It's going to be enough to actually do something with, much more than the little bit I did above. This roving is from Eweniquelyewe.etsy.com - if you're a spinner, be sure to check out both Windrose and Eweniquelyewe on etsy.

I can't wait to see the yarn! With all the fiber in my studio, I just don't get to spin often enough. Every time I read about someone's spinning projects, it makes me long to get back to my wheel!
It turned out so well! there's a photo (which doesn't do it justice) in today's post. Your roving is really beautiful and so fun to work with. Thanks so much.
